India‘s star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, December 18, following the drawn Brisbane Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in Australia.
Ashwin’s wife, Prithi Narayanan, penned a heartfelt tribute to her “all-time favorite cricketer,” reflecting on memories from his illustrious career. After his press conference, she shared her emotions and celebrated his achievements.
Now that Ashwin has stepped away from international cricket, Prithi encouraged him to embrace freedom and live life on his own terms, expressing her sentiments in an Instagram post.
“It has been a blurry two days for me. I have been thinking about what I can say.. Do I put this down as a tribute to my all time favorite cricketer ? Maybe I’ll just take the partner angle? Or maybe a love letter from a fan girl? I guess this is a little bit of all of it.”
Prithi Narayanan reflected on Ashwin’s journey, recalling memorable moments, victories, and challenges over 13-14 years. She praised his passion and discipline, acknowledged the struggles to stay relevant, and celebrated his achievements.
In her heartfelt note, she encouraged him to embrace freedom, family time, and creativity post-retirement, ending with: “Live on your terms, share memes, and create new bowling variations.”
