Uncapped IPL sensation Prabhsimran Singh delivered a stunning performance in the third unofficial ODI against Australia A, smashing a 66-ball century and guiding India A to a thrilling series-clinching win. His aggressive yet composed innings set the foundation for a successful run chase in a high-scoring encounter that showcased the depth and talent of India’s next generation.
Australia A Fight Back After Early Collapse
Batting first, Australia A found themselves in deep trouble at 44/4, with India A’s pacers Arshdeep Singh (3/38) and Harshit Rana (3/61) dismantling the top order with disciplined bowling. However, the visitors staged a remarkable recovery thanks to a gritty 71-run partnership between Cooper Connolly and Lachlan Shaw, which steadied the innings.
The real momentum shift came when Jack Edwards (89 off 75) and Liam Scott (73 off 64) counterattacked brilliantly, adding crucial runs and propelling Australia A to a competitive total of 316. Their lower order contributed vital cameos, ensuring the bowlers had a strong total to defend despite the early setbacks.
Prabhsimran’s Explosive Knock Sets the Tone
Chasing a stiff target, India A got off to a cautious start with Abhishek Sharma contributing 22 before falling early. It was then that Prabhsimran Singh took control of the innings, showcasing his aggressive strokeplay and fearless intent. The right-hander built a crucial 56-run stand with skipper Shreyas Iyer, attacking the bowlers with precision and clearing boundaries with ease.
His 102 off 68 balls — his sixth List A century — was a blend of raw power and smart cricket, lifting his career average to 43.51 and maintaining an impressive strike rate of 107.47. His dismissal at 145 briefly gave Australia A hope, but India A remained firmly in the contest.
Middle-Order Composure Seals the Chase
After Prabhsimran’s departure, the responsibility fell on captain Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Riyan Parag. The duo responded brilliantly, stitching together a match-defining 117-run partnership. Iyer’s composed 62 off 58 and Parag’s dynamic 62 off 55 ensured the chase stayed on track despite the pressure.
Even after a late wobble, Vipraj Nigam’s unbeaten 24 off 32 guided India A home with two wickets and four overs to spare. The victory not only secured a 2–1 series win for India A but also capped off a successful tour that included a 1–0 triumph in the unofficial Test series, underlining the bench strength and future potential of Indian cricket.
