Prasidh Krishna Dismisses Bavuma With A Short Ball After Being Hit For Six In 2nd ODI

Team India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna provided an important breakthrough by dismissing Temba Bavuma in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. The Karnataka pacer bowled a short delivery that brought an end to the visiting captain’s innings. Bavuma was removed for 46, giving the hosts their second wicket.

The wicket came in the 21st over when Indian captain KL Rahul introduced Prasidh for his second spell. Earlier in the over, Bavuma had hooked a short ball for six, making good use of the pace. However, when another short delivery was bowled, the 35-year-old failed to time it well and pulled it straight to Harshit Rana, who completed an easy catch.

The 29-year-old right-arm fast bowler started off slightly expensive in the series opener in Ranchi, but eventually ended with figures of 7.2 overs, one maiden, 48 runs, and one wicket. His only dismissal was Corbin Bosch, who scored 67, as South Africa fell 17 runs short while chasing India’s total of 349.

India Set South Africa A Challenging Target Of 359 In Raipur

South Africa won the toss once again in the series and decided to bowl first, considering the impact of dew later in the game. Team India responded strongly, with Virat Kohli registering his second consecutive century of the series. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had struggled in the first match, also found form as he scored his maiden ODI hundred and stitched a 195-run stand with Kohli.

Afterward, KL Rahul played a quickfire innings of 66 from 43 balls to take India to a total of 358/5 in 50 overs. In the chase, Arshdeep Singh removed Quinton de Kock for 8 to provide the first breakthrough. However, Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram built a solid 110-run partnership to lay the platform for the challenging target.

At the time of writing, South Africa were 253/3 in 36 overs, with Dewald Brevis and Matthew Breetzke at the crease, keeping the visitors in the contest.
