Prithvi Shaw scored a 72 in his first innings of IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings to get his IPL 2021 season off with a bang. He is coming into this IPL season with rich vein of form. He scored 827 runs with four centuries in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the game against CSK, Shaw was seen using a bat with an SG (Sanspareils Greenlands) logo. There were speculations that MRF has ended their association with the player due to disciplinary issues. There were various kinds of speculations that came about after Shaw sported a different loo on his bat. However, Shaw’s manager has revealed the truth behind the batsman using a different logo on his bat.

Prithvi Shaw’s Contract With MRF Has Ended: Ramakrishnan R, Co Founder Baseline Ventures
“Contracts are airtight, you can’t just walk out of a contract. Prithvi’s contract with MRF has ended,” Ramakrishnan R, the Co-founder of Baseline Ventures was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.
“Bat manufacturers have become aggressive now and are able to match commercial terms offered by an MRF or CEAT. Traditionally, they were not very aggressive or marketing-oriented. There is also an ease of procurement when you deal directly with a manufacturer, in terms of the willow and specifications a batsman might want,” said Ramakrishnan.
Tyre manufactures MRF has sponsored previously for Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has failed to replicate his form against Rajasthan Royals. After 72 against CSK, he scored just 2 off five balls against the Royals.
The Royals beat Delhi by three wickets courtesy a Chris Morris magical knock. He scored 36 off 18 balls with the side needing 55 off the last four overs. All the teams barring SRH and CSK have at least one win in their belt after the first couple of games in the IPL after yesterday’s match.
