R Ashwin Doesn’t Deserve Place In ODI And T20I Squad, Says Yuvraj Singh
R Ashwin

One of the best all-rounders in World Cricket, Yuvraj Singh spoke about R Ashwin does not deserve a place in the One-day international and T20I squad in the Indian team. Ravichandran Ashwin is on the verge of picking 500 Test wickets. He should achieve this feat during the upcoming Test series against England to be played from 25th January onwards. His performances in One-day international and T20I formats have been not up to the mark.

R Ashwin was there in the squad but not included in playing during the ICC Test Championship cycle for 2021-23 against Australia at Kennington Oval. He featured in the finals of the first-ever cycle against New Zealand during the 2019-21 cycle.

He played the first match against Australia in the recently concluded World Cup at Chennai. He picked only a wicket getting rid of Cameron Green.

“Ashwin is a great bowler but I don’t think he deserves a place in ODIs and T20s. He is very good with the ball, but what does he bring with the bat? Or as a fielder? In the Test team, yes, he should be there. But in white-ball cricket, I don’t think he deserves a place.”

R Ashwin played a key role in helping India win the 2011 World Cup after a gap of 28 years. He was included in the playing XI against Australia and picked the key wicket of Shane Watson changing the momentum of the game.

Hardik Pandya Key Player for India in limited overs format

Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya ruled out of the T20I series against Australia and SA

“Hardik is a very important member of the team and India needs him. He is injury prone and we need to give him time to recuperate and settle down. We have to get the best out of him. As for captaincy, we need to have more options. There is Suryakumar Yadav, who has been captaining India in T20Is. There is Shubman Gill, who will be captain in IPL.”

Hardik Pandya was injured while fielding in the follow-through against Bangladesh at MCA Stadium, Pune. He did not recover from the injury and was ruled out of the entire World Cup.

Shivam Dube has been included in the squad for the 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan. He played a key role with a match-winning knock of 60 that helped India register a comfortable win in the first T20I at Mohali.
