New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra etched his name in the history books as he won the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal on Wednesday. He was named New Zealand’s Outstanding Male Cricketer of the Year, becoming the youngest recipient of the award.

Rachin Ravindra has become one of the mainstay of New Zealand’s red and white ball sides. He was one of New Zealand’s top performers in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. He scored 578 runs at an average of 64, including three centuries and two half-centuries. At 24 years of age, Ravindra has become the youngest winner of the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal.

The New Zealand batter has also won the ICC’s Emerging Player of the Year for 2023. He secured an Indian Premier League contract worth INR 1.8 crore with the Chennai Super Kings. Rachin Ravindra has scored 1553 runs at an average of 33.76, with four centuries and six fifties across formats in International cricket. In 2023, he scored 911 runs at an average of 36.44, including three centuries.

Meanwhile, veteran New Zealand batter Kane Williamson won the ANZ Test Player of the Year Award for his outstanding performance in the format. He scored 695 runs at an average of 57.91, including four centuries in Test cricket in 2023. He also won the Redpath Cup for men’s first-class batting.

Amelia Kerr shines at New Zealand’s annual cricket awards

New Zealand cricketer Amelia Kerr was amongst the top award winners, winning the major female awards. She won the Debbie Hockley Medal after being named ANZ ODI and T20I Player of the Year. Kerr also won the Dream11 Super Smash Women’s Player of the Year. She scored 541 runs at an average of 67, including two centuries. The New Zealand all-rounder was also their joint-leading T20 wicket-taker and the second-highest T20I run scorer with 252 runs at an average of 42 and a strike rate of 118.
