Rahul Chahar was the destroyer in chief for Mumbai Indians as he picked up four for 27 and prevented KKR from chasing 153 to win. He took the wickets of Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan as KKR’s middle order failed to score 31 to win from the final five overs. This was after Gill and Rana added 72 for the first wicket in the first nine overs.
Rahul Chahar opened upon the advice Rohit Sharma gave him in the match which worked big time in his favour. In the last 5 overs, Kolkata Knight Riders just needed 31 runs with 6 wickets in hand. However, great death over bowling by Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Trent Boult witnessed Mumbai Indians earning the victory by 10 runs.
“He asked to keep the focus and try to turn the ball. I knew that in this match, if someone had to turn things around then, it had to be a spinner. I had the confidence in myself,” the spinner said.
Chahar further said that even Rohit Sharma struggles to pick him in the nets a few times and how he backs the leggie’s confidence.
