Meanwhile, ahead of the IPL 2021 auctions, Rajasthan Royals have released eight players – Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Akash Singh, Varun Aaron, Tom Curran, Anirudha Joshi, and Shashank Singh along with their last season’s skipper Steve Smith. Rajasthan also traded veteran batsman Robin Uthappa to Chennai Super Kings.
As a result, they will have their task cut out going into Chennai for the big day with former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara at the helm of things. They will be keen to rope in a couple of fast bowlers – a department that has hurt them badly in the last few seasons.
Young wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson, who joined the franchise in 2013, will lead the side in the upcoming tournament.
