Rajasthan Royals To Return Money To Guwahati Fans Because The RR vs KKR IPL 2024 Match Was Canceled Due To Rain

On Monday, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) declared a refund procedure for attendees who purchased tickets for their IPL 2024 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Guwahati on Sunday. The final league game was called off without a single ball bowled because of rain.

RR played their initial matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, their customary home ground, but similar to IPL 2023, they reserved the final two games for the Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati. The first match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) proceeded without interruption from rain, although RR lost.

However, the second match seemed destined for a shortened seven-over contest later in the night before the rain resumed. In a social media announcement, RR advised fans to retain their physical tickets and assured a refund of the ticket’s original value through the platform, BookMyShow.

“Unfortunate evening but thank you for your patience, #RoyalsFamily. 💗,” they wrote in the caption.

The match being washed out due to rain dashed RR’s hopes of securing a top-two finish and participating in the Qualifier 1 instead of the Eliminator. As a result, despite leading the table for the majority of the first half of the season, RR’s winless run extended to five matches, with four consecutive losses, all occurring in May.

“RR is lacking a crucial puzzle piece”- Michael Vaughan

RR will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator in Ahmedabad. RCB has experienced a turnaround with a six-match winning streak after a slow start, narrowly securing a place in the top four.

Former English captain Michael Vaughan recently commented that Faf du Plessis’ team might have an advantage in the knockout game because RR no longer has Jos Buttler. The opener, who scored two centuries in the season against KKR and RCB, departed for national duty last week.

“RCB have got more players in form. Jos Buttler is such a big player for them. Watch his hundred against KKR, he knows how to get the job done under pressure. They are missing their key jigsaw piece,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
