Ranji Trophy 2017/18, 6th Round: Services, Bengal & Delhi register innings wins on Day 3

The third of 6th round matches saw Services, Bengal and Delhi register innings win over their opponents. Few matches are heading towards first innings lead. Here we look at the round-up of the 3rd day.

Assam began the 3rd day on 36 to 2, following on. The Assam batsmen applied and have made 300 for 7. AS Sinha has scored 96 not out.

Maharashtra began the day on 59 for 8. They added 40 runs before being dismissed for 99 runs. Following on, Delhi bowlers Nitin Saini and Vikas Mishra picked 4 wickets each. Maharashtra was dismissed for 259. Delhi won the match by an innings and 61 runs.

Karnataka started the day on 642 for 7 and dismissed for

Gujarat continued their dominance over Rajasthan on the 2nd day. Panchal scored 152, BH Merai 110 and Parthiv Patel still not out on 119.

In the second day, Amit Mishra played captains knock of 41 and helped Haryana post 184. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir ended the day on 175 for 7. AO Bandy made 67. 3 Haryana bowlers took 2 wickets each.  Saurashtra began on 37 for 0. Robin Uthappa was the top scorer with 86. Snell Patel scored 49. Saurashtra was dismissed for 232. In reply, Kerala is 69 for 1 with a lead of 62 runs.

In Group C, Madhya Pradesh began the day on 224 for 7. They added 40 runs before being dismissed for 264. In reply, Tamil Nadu is struggling at 191 for 6.

Baroda began the day on 281 for 3. Soltani made 109, Rathava 115 at the lower order. Baroda posted a massive total of 503 runs. For Odisha Mohanty took 5 for 85. Odisha ended the second day on 64 for 2.

Mumbai took on Andhra Pradesh. AP captain Vihari won the toss and bowled first. Prithvi Shaw scored his 5th first-class century and Lad made 86. For AP, Ayyappa took 3 wickets. Mumbai ended day 1 at 248 for 6.

It was great batting display by Bengal batsmen. A Raman scored 149 not out and helped Bengal score 309 for 3. They lead Punjab by 162 runs.

Starting the second day on 39 for 0, Vikas Hathwala played a crucial knock of 76 which helped Services post 272. Shahnawaz took 5 wickets for 59 runs. In reply, Chhattisgarh is 24 for 0 still trail Services.

Ramaswamy scored 87 and Jaffer 70 not out helped Vidarbha score 199 for 2 in 91 overs. They trail Goa by just 40 runs.

Group A 

Assam vs. Hyderabad ( Basara Stadium, Guwahati)

Assam batsmen applied and have 300 for 7. They have a lead of 110 runs.

Assam 136 in 48. 5 overs ( Gokul Sharma 39, Muddasir 5/36) and 300 for 7 in 98 overs( AS Sinha 96*) lead Hyderabad 326 in 90. 4 overs ( Rayadu 83, Sandeep 84, Bhandari 41, Arup Das 5/112, Rahul Singh 3/60) by 110 runs.

Delhi vs. Maharashtra ( Palam A Stadium, Delhi)

Maharashtra began the day on 59 for 8. They added 40 runs before being dismissed for 99. In their second innings, Maharashtra was all out for 259. Delhi won the match by an innings and 61 runs.

Delhi 419 in 111.1 overs ( Nitish Rana 174, Rishabh Pant 99, Khurana 3/106, Bachhav 4/87) beat Maharastra 99 in 35 overs ( Khurana 29, Ishant Sharma 3/14) and 259 in 63. 3 overs ( Rahul Tripathi 106, Saini 4/57, Vikas Mishra 4/90) by an innings and 61 runs.

Delhi 7, Maharashtra 0.

 

Karnataka vs. Uttar Pradesh ( Green Park Stadium, Kanpur)

Karnataka was

dismissed for 665. In reply, Uttar Pradesh struggled at 243 for 5. Suresh Raina could not open his account.

Uttar Pradesh 243 for 5 in 69 overs ( Umang Sharma 89, RK Singh 57*, RG More 2/54) trail Karnataka 665 in 186.1 overs  ( Mayank Agarwal 90, Nischol 195, Pandey 238, Dhruv Pratap Singh 3/118, I Ahmed 6/110 ) by 412 runs.

Group B

Gujarat vs. Rajasthan ( Surat)

Gujarat began the day on 450 for 3. Parthiv Patel made 173 while Juneja made 83. Gujarat declared their innings on 601 for 4. In their second innings, Rajasthan have scored 183 for 4.

Rajasthan 153 in 50 overs ( Bishnoi 43*, Chintan Gaja 8/40) and 183 for 4 in 61 overs ( R Bist 81, SA Desai 2/68) trail Gujarat 601 for 4 d in 155 overs   ( Gohel 46, Panchal 152, Merai 110, Parthiv Patel 173, Juneja 83*) by 265 runs.

Haryana vs. Jammu and Kashmir ( Lahli, Rohtak)

Jammu and Kashmir added just 1 run before being all out. In their second innings, Haryana has made 161 for 9 with a lead of 169 runs.

Haryana 184 in 65.4 overs ( H Rana 35, Palliwal 23, Amit Mishra 41, Mudhasir 4/56, Dayal 5/57) and 161 for 9 in 83 overs ( RS Paliwal 45, R Dayal 5/42) lead Jammu and Kashmir 176 in 54.5 overs ( AO Bandy 67, P Bisht 35, AH Hooda 3/38, A Chahal 3/68) by 169 runs.

Kerala vs. Saurashtra (Thiruvananthapuram)

Kerala began the day on 69 for 1. It was a great batting display by Kerala batsmen to play with positive intent and declared their innings on 411 for 6. Sanju Samson made 175.

Saurashtra 232 in 78.5 overs ( Robin Uthappa 86, Snell Patel 49, Sijomon 4/ 43, Thampi 3/36) and 30 for 1 in 15 overs ( SS Patel 15*) Kerala 225 in 78 overs ( Sanju Samson 68, Dharmendra Jadeja 6/112) and 411 for 6 d 92 overs ( Sanju Samson 175, Nazir 34*) Sauhastra require 375 runs to win.

Group C

Tamil Nadu vs. Madhya Pradesh ( Indore)

Tamil Nadu started the day on 191 for 6. YO Mahesh played a great knock and remained not out on 103. TN was bowled out for 326. In their second innings, MP ended the day on 142 for 1.

Madhya Pradesh 264 in 90.1 overs ( Ankit Sharma 75*, Ankit Dane 63, K Vignesh 4/32, Mohammad 3/67) and 142 for 1 in 40 overs ( Patidar 81*, SS Sharma 41*) lead Tamil Nadu 326 in 105.4 overs ( Jagadessan 101 Mahesh 103*, Pandey 3/67, Datey 3/55) by 80 runs.

Baroda vs. Odisha ( Vadodara)

Odisha began the third day on 64 for 2. It was a great batting display by Odisha batsmen to end on a strong note at 316 for 5.

Odisha 316 for 5 in 120 overs ( Senapati 131*) trail Baroda 503 in 137.4 overs ( KM Devdhar 104, Solanki 109, Rathava 115*, Mohanty 5/85, Deepak Hooda 51) by 187 runs.

Andhra Pradesh vs. Mumbai ( Ongole)

Andhra Pradesh began the 3rd day on 74 for 2. The Mumbai bowlers showed great skills and dismissed AP for just 215. In their second innings, Mumbai has made 190 for 4.

Mumbai 332 in 132 overs  ( Prithvi Shaw 114, Lad 86,  Kulkarni 50, Ayyappa 4/110, Srikanth 3/61) and 190 for 4 in 41 overs ( Iyer 75*) lead AP 215 in 77 overs ( Bhui 69, Vihari 70, Shardul Thakur 5/55 ) by 307 runs.

Group D

Punjab vs. Bengal (Amritsar)

Bengal started the 3rd day on 309 for 3. They added 70 runs before declaring the innings on 379 for 9. In their second innings, Punjab was dismissed for 213 runs. Bengal won the match by an innings and 19 runs.

Bengal 379 for 9 deal in 116 overs ( Raman 155, Easwaran 117, S Kaul 5/118) beat  Punjab 147 in 46 overs ( Shubam Gill 63, Prammnik 3/41, Amit 3/31) and 213 in 56.1 overs ( Gurkeerat Singh 57, IC Porel 5/32) by an innings and 19 runs.

Bengal 7, Punjab 0.

Chhattisgarh vs. Services ( Raipur)

Chhattisgarh began the day on 24 for 0. It was a great bowling display by Services bowlers to dismiss Chhattisgarh for 133. Services won the match by an innings and 9 runs.

Services 272 in 90. 5 overs ( Vikas Hathwala 76, Shahnawaz 5/59) beat Chhattisgarh 130 in 72.2 overs ( Manoj Singh 53, Pathania 4/45, Vikas Yadav 3/10) and 133 in 53.3 overs (ARPS Chauhan 53, Patina 7/41) by an innings and 9 runs.

Services 7, Chhattisgarh 0.

Goa vs. Vidarbha ( Porovim)

Vidarbha started the 3rd day on 199 for 2. Wasim Jaffer remained not out on 158 and Ganesh Satish scored 101 not out. Vidarbha declared their innings on 427 for 3. In their second innings, Goa is struggling at 19 for 2.
