Ranji Trophy 2017/18: Bengal knock Defending Champions Gujarat to join Delhi, Karnataka & Vidarbha in semi-finals

Bengal Started day at 483 for 4, they continued to bat before bad light called off the play. They ended on 695 for 6 with AP Majumdar scoring 132 not out. Last year’s Champions Gujarat have been knocked out of the tournament.

On the fifth and final day, Delhi chased down the target of 217 runs with the loss of only 3 wickets. The experienced Gambhir made 95 while K Chandela scored 57. DR Shorey remained not out on 46. With this win, Delhi progressed to the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy 2017/18

Vidarbhhasve registered an outright win over Kerala. Declaring the innings on 507 for 9, Vidarbha bowled out Kerala for just 165. Sarwate picked 6 wickets for 41.

1st quarterfinals Bengal vs. Gujarat ( Jaipur)

Bengal has done well on the 4th day. Starting the day on 177 for 1, WB Chatterjee is still not out on 213 and Easwaran also scored a century to put Bengal in a commanding position. They ended the day on 483 for 4.

Bengal 354 in 111.5 overs ( Easwaran 129, Majumdar 94, AA Gani 49, B Amit 36 IH Chaudhary 5/87, CT Gaja 3/93) and 483 for 4 in 169 overs ( Easwaran 114, WB Chatterjee 213*) lead Gujarat 224 in 74.5 overs ( BH Merai 67, Parthiv Patel 47, Piyush Chawla 43, B Amit 3/53, Ashok Dinda 3/48, IC Porel 3/64) by 613 runs.

2nd quarterfinals Delhi vs. Madhya Pradesh ( Vijayawada)

On the fifth and final day, Gambhir 95, Chandela 57 and DR Shorey helped Delhi to chase down the target with ease. Delhi won the match by 7 wickets, progressing into the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy 2017/18 season.

Delhi 405 in 119.4 overs ( Chandela 81, DR Shorey 78, Himmat Singh 71, Mihir Hirwani 5/89) and 217 for 3 in 51.4 overs ( Gambhir 95, Chandela 57, DR Shorey 46*) beat Madhya Pradesh 338 in 124.1 overs ( AS Dane 59, Naman Ojha 49, Harpreet Singh 107*, Vikas Mishra 3/58, Manan Sharma 4/46) and 283 in 105.5 overs ( Harpreet Singh 78, PM Datey 60, Vikas Mishra  4/59) by 7 wickets.

3rd quarterfinals Kerala vs. Vidarbha ( Surat)

Vidarbha is also one step away from the semi-finals. Starting the day on 77 for 1, Faiz Faizal and Wankhade scored centuries which have put them in a commanding position. They ended day 4 on 431 for 6. For Kerala Jalaj Saxena took 3 wickets.

Vidarbha 246 in 105.3 overs ( Wadkar 53, Sarwate 36, KC Akshay 5/66) and 431 for 6 in 124 overs ( Faiz Fazal 119, Wankadhe 107, Jalaj Saxena 3/106) lead  Kerala 176 in 61.5 overs ( Jalaj Saxena 40, Samson 32, Gurbani 5/38) by 501 runs.
