Quartefinals of 2023-24 Ranji Trophy announced

The league stage of the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy ended today with the quarterfinalists of the tournament decided. There were some great performances throughout the 7 round matches which helped their state qualify for the quarterfinals.

Group A saw Vidarbha finish at the top with 33 points including 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. Defending Champions, Saurashtra defeated Manipur by an innings to move into the top two places with 28 points including 4 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws. The only loss for Saurashtra came against Haryana.

Mumbai topped Group B with 37 points including 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. Mumbai registered 5 times bonus points either by an innings or 10 wickets while they earned 3 points for first innings lead. Andhra Pradesh finished at the 2nd place in Group B after 1 point against Kerala. They won 3 matches, lost 1 and drew 3 points. Andhra earned twice 6 points and once 7 points, twice 3 points each for first innings lead and 1 point.

Group C saw Tamil Nadu finish at the top with 28 points including 4 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws. They defeated Punjab by 9 wickets to qualify for the quarterfinals after a gap of 7 years. TN registered twice 7 points each, twice 6 points, and 1 point as TN conceded 1 point lead while one match was not completed with Tripura.

Karanakta made it into the top two of Group C with 3 wins, 1 loss and 3 draws with 27 points. They registered thrice 6 points; the first innings lead thrice.

Group D saw Madhya Pradesh make it into the quarterfinals finishing at the top with 32 points including 4 wins and 3 outright losses. MP registered thrice 6 points, once 7 points, twice 3 points each for first innings lead and then once to concede first innings lead. Baroda completes the top two of Group D with 26 points including 3 wins, 1 loss, and 3 draws.

It promises to be an exciting quarterfinalist lineup as Vidarbha will play Karankata in the first quarterfinals. Madhya Pradesh will face Andhra Pradesh at Indore while the rest of the venues for the remaining 3 quarterfinals will be played in Nagpur, Mumbai, and Coimbatore.

  2. Mumbai vs Baroda (MCA BKC Ground, Mumbai)- 23rd-27th February 2024
  3.  Tamil Nadu vs Saurashtra (Sri Ramakrishnan College, Coimbatore )- 23rd-27th February 2024.
  4.  Madhya Pradesh vs Andhra Pradesh (Holkar Stadium, Indore)- 23rd-27th February 2024.
