Mumbai made a strong comeback with an impressive bowling effort by Shivam Dube in the Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 27th January 2024. After being bowled out for 198 runs on the first day, Uttar Pradesh began well scoring 53 runs for a loss of 1 wicket at the close of play.

Douza got the first breakthrough by dismissing Shivam Sharma. Dube came into the attack producing the magic and dismissing Priyam Garg taking the inside edge onto stumps. He struck again getting the wicket of Karan Sharma with a similar dismissal. Dube then got a big wicket of well set Shivam Sharma for 63.

It was an impressive bowling effort by Mumbai bowlers not allowing Uttar Pradesh to score runs easily. Shivam Dube showed his class by keeping tight lines and lengths making life tough for batters. The all-rounder ended with figures of 3 for 32 in 17 overs. Royston Dias also bowled brilliantly picking 3 for 54. Mohit Avasthi, Douza, Shams Mulani, and Tanush Kotian grabbed 1 wicket each.

Mumbai bowled showed their discipline dismissing Uttar Pradesh for 324. It was a superb bowling effort as they restricted UP to a 126 lead. Mumbai openers showed caution as Jay Bista and Bhupen Lalwani put on 24 runs for the opening wicket. They would be looking to showcase their fighting spirit as they still trail by 102 runs with 10 wickets to spare.

Mumbai has been in great form during the 2024 Ranji Trophy season so far. They are currently at the number 1 spot with 3 out of 3 wins.

Mumbai began their journey with a crushing innings and 51 runs win over Bihar in the first group match earning them 7 points. They made light work of Andhra Pradesh with another dominating win by 10 wickets with another 7 points.

Mumbai defeated Kerala in their 3rd match by 232 runs to garner 6 points. They would be looking to make a comeback with another impressive batting performance and give UP a decent target.
