The leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan is one of the hottest property across the globe in the shortest format. He has had a massive impact in various leagues all over the world. As a result, Barbados Tridents have roped in Rashid Khan to boost their squad for CPL 2020.
Australia batsman Chris Lynn, Afghanistan spin twins Rashid Khan and Qais Ahmad, and South African batsman Rilee Rossouw have been picked up by various franchises as overseas signings ahead of the CPL 2020 players’ draft. Meanwhile, the draft will take place later today (June 24). The draft will consist of 537 players and will take place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rashid Khan to represent Barbados Tridents in CPL 2020
As per reports in ESPNCricinfo, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have roped in the services of hard-hitting batsman Chris Lynn. On the other hand, Rashid Khan will ply his trade for Barbados Tridents while his Afghan teammate Qais Ahmed will represent Guyana Amazon Warriors. On the other hand, Rilee Rossouw will play for St Lucia Zouks. Recently, Chris Gayle opted out of CPL 2020 and Zouks will look forward to Rossouw filling the void.
Other foreigners who have signed include New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert (Trinbago Knight Riders), South Africa wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi (Jamaica Tallawahs), and his national team-mates Anrich Nortje (Zouks) and Rassie van der Dussen (Patriots).
Meanwhile, cricketers from as many as 23 countries excluding the Caribbeans have registered their names. Two Indians – Pravin Tambe and Asad Pathan have also sent their names and will hope to get a buyer. Both of them have played in the IPL and will hope to continue to dazzle in overseas leagues.
CPL 2020 will take place between August 18 and September 10 in Trinidad & Tobago behind closed doors. The organisers have told all franchises to assemble their squads from August 1. The players and support staff will have to undergo two-week period in quarantine before the tournament gets underway.
