Ravi Shastri has indicated that Rohit Sharma is not a sure shot starter for the third Test match against Australia. Rohit who will join the Indian squad tomorrow will begin his outdoor practice after his 2 weeks of quarantine. The star Indian batsman arrived in Australia after passing a fitness Test and is expected to feature in the last 2 Test.

However the Indian coach, Shastri has hinted that the management will assess Rohit Sharma and then take a call on whether or not he will play the third Test. The Indian coach was ecstatic after his side produced a comeback for the ages and won a historic Test match at MCG.

Still, the visitors going forward in the Test series will look to improve on their opening partnership. Mayank Agarwal failed to impress with the bat in the second Test and rumours suggests that Rohit might replace him in the second Test. Ravi Shastri stayed away from confirming about Rohit playing the next Test after India’s victory in the boxing day Test match.

“Rohit joins the team tomorrow. We will have a chat with him to see where he is placed physically because he has been quarantined for a couple of weeks. We will have to see now how he feels before we take the call”, said Ravi Shastri.

Meanwhile, Rohit in the last few years has immensely improved as a Test batsman. He averages 92 with the bat in the world Test championship which is highest by any Indian batsman. Rohit made all those runs opening the batting and it is confirmed that if he plays the next Test he will again bat in the top order.

The good thing is that Team India has a lot of time before they take the final call on Rohit’s place in the playing XI. The third Test match between Australia and India will begin from January 7 at Sydney.
