Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri picked his two frontline runners to win the Orange Cap this year. Shastri voted his confidence in favour of Jos Buttler and KL Rahul as his top two picks to lead the race of Orange Cap in IPL 2022. Incidentally, Orange Cap is given to the batsman for scoring the most runs in a particular IPL season.
Adding further, Ravi Shastri stated the batting position and batting form while choosing Buttler and Rahul as two of his hot picks for Orange Cap. The 1982 World Cup winner further clarified that since both of them open the innings, they have a great chance to make big scores. Shastri also added that both of them have looked in amazing form this year.
“You asked me at the start of the season, Orange Cap, I said KL Rahul because the openers have the best chance. So, it will be between him and Jos Buttler,” said Ravi Shastri while speaking on the Star Sports show Cricket Live.
Incidentally, Jos Buttler has scored 491 runs in IPL 2022 at an amazing average of 81 and an impactful strike rate of 161. Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman has already scored three centuries and two fifties so far in the ongoing IPL 2022 season. He is currently the highest run-scorer in the competition.

The 59-year-old former cricketer also spoke highly of Rahul, whom he has seen from close quarters in the last few years during his stint with Team India. Shastri said that the cricketer from Karnataka has a great all-round game with outstanding temperament.
“He’s got a solid all-round game, the technique is good, he’s got all the shots, great temperament, and good presence of mind. With the responsibility of leading a new franchise is getting the best out of him,” added Ravi Shastri.
KL Rahul stands at second position in the race of Orange Cap, only behind Jos Buttler. He has scored 368 runs with an impressive strike rate of 148. He has hit two centuries in this IPL season with both of them coming against Mumbai Indians. Undoubtedly, Jos Buttler and KL Rahul look like the best picks for most runs in IPL 2022.
