Following Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s first Test call-up, Ravichandran Ashwin posted a sincere message for them. Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were among the best players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year.
Their reliability was rewarded on Friday when both teenagers were selected for India’s squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. Gaikwad was also selected for the ODI squad, whereas Jaiswal was only a member of the Test squad.
Following the young players’ first call-up to the Indian cricket team, seasoned captain of India Ravichandran Ashwin posted a sincere message for them both on Twitter.
“@ybj_19 and @Ruutu1331 should be so happy. Well deserved,” the seasoned spinner wrote on Twitter.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been added to the Indian Test team for the upcoming tour of the West Indies
The Indian cricket team’s Test squad, which is going to the West Indies in July, was missing two prominent players: Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav.
While Umesh was chosen over seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Pujara had a disappointing performance in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia.
Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler, was also benched for the series in favour of Navdeep Saini. Jaydev Unadkat maintained his position in the pace department. While Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar received his first India call-up.
For the two-match Test series, Ajinkya Rahane returned in the vice-captaincy position.
After the test series, India will play three one-day internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies, for which the BCCI selectors have named a 17-person team led by Rohit.
