Ashwin has been staying in the bubble since August last year when the preparations for IPL 2020 began. It was followed by the tour of Australia before the Test series against England.

He also spoke at the post-match presentation after India’s convincing win over England in the final Test match. From Pant to Sundar to Axar Patel, Ashwin spoke on every one of very high regard and their contribution in the series.

“The fact that we qualified for the WTC final is very important. Beating Australia in Australia has to be the pinnacle, but with the context – being in the WTC final is not a joke – this means a lot to us. WTC final is as good as WC final” said Ravichandran Ashwin to Cricbuzz after India qualified for the World Test Championship final.

He then spoke of the performances put in by Rishabh Pant & Axar Patel in the Test series. While Axar picked up 27 wickets in his debut series, Pant was the second-highest run-getter for India with 270 runs.

If you put a board on what Rishabh has gone through in the last year, I am extremely happy to see him succeed. It’s been a little unfair being compared to legends, and the way he’s come out of it and kept in this series has been excellent. Axar is someone who came into replace Jaddu. He deserved all the praise and he was very accurate for someone playing his first series” said the Indian spinner on Pant and Axar respectively.
