Team India suffers a massive blow with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. The ace all-rounder played a key role with the bat in the first group game against arch-rivals Pakistan. He stitched together a match-winning 52-run partnership with Hardik Pandya to beat the arch-rivals by five wickets.

Incidentally, Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury in the second T20I against Hong  Kong on Wednesday and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. It is unknown whether he will return back to India to begin his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel has been named as Ravindra Jadeja’s replacement for the remainder of the continental tournament. Axar, who was earlier named as one of the standbys in the squad, will join the team in Dubai soon.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup,” the BCCI said in a statement.

India’s updated squad for Asia Cup: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan.
