India observes the Kargil Vijay Diwas every year on July 26 to commemorate its victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war. As the country enters its 23rd anniversary of the win, tributes started pouring in on social media from across the country for the soldiers who fought in the war to protect the country. Former India cricketers, Mithali Raj, Yuvraj Singh, and others also paid tributes and shared their wishes on the Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The Kargil war was fought from May 3 to July 26, 1999, in the Kargil district and along the Line of Control (LOC) between India and Pakistan. July 26 is specially marked to remember the all brave hearts who fought in the 60-day long ‘Operation Vijay’. Every year, the Prime Minister of India pays homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, New Delhi on the Kargil Vijay Diwas.

On the Kargil Vijay Diwas, various events are organized across the country to honor the fighting spirit of Indian soldiers and their contribution to the Indian Army. The families of the martyrs are also invited to the memorial service.

Former India cricketer Mithali Raj saluted the soldiers who fought for the country in the Kargil war. Paying her tributes to the brave hearts, she wrote on Twitter,
