India’s women’s team once again made it to the top by winning the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup and the government played a big part in the team’s success by announcing awards for the players. Two players, the fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur from Himachal Pradesh and the batter Kranti Gaud from Madhya Pradesh, were each given an award of Rs 1 crore by their state governments.

The players’ recognition is, in fact, a mirror of their key roles in the country’s first women’s World Cup win. Renuka, who comes from the Rohru district, excelled in bowling and managed to maintain a very low economy rate while taking important wickets. Her bowling was a major factor in the establishment of India’s supremacy in the tournament, especially in the matches against very strong rivals.

Due to their outstanding performances during the historic ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Himachal Pradesh fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur and MP batter Kranti Gaud each got an award of 1 crore rupees from their respective state governments. The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday announced the award for Renuka and commended her for being a significant contributor to India’s victorious campaign.

Renuka, from Rohru in the Shimla district, played a central role in the tournament as a bowler by her superb bowling performances, which helped to put constant pressure on the opponents till the end.

On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav proclaimed a similar Rs 1 crore reward for Kranti Gaud, identifying her as a state daughter who not only brought great honor to the country but also was a talent of the state.

He congratulated her for being a part of the team that made the final victory over South Africa by 52 runs at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Both the cricketers signify the arrival of new talent and the determination among Indian women’s cricket, thus giving inspiration to the coming generations while bringing honor to their home states and the country.
