Rinku Singh Gets A New Tattoo In Anticipation Of The IND Vs BAN T20I Series

Team India batter Rinku Singh received a new tattoo on his left hand before next month’s T20I series against Bangladesh. The tattoo features the phrase “God’s plan,” which he originally shared in support of his Uttar Pradesh teammate Yash Dayal during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Instagram.

The phrase was first used after Dayal contributed to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to advance to the T20 tournament finals. Subsequently, India’s new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav playfully referenced it when teasing Rinku on social media.

In an Instagram photo, Rinku is seen getting his new tattoo applied by an artist at a shop. You can view the photo here:

Many Indian cricketers, including Suryakumar, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, are fond of tattoos. Professionally, Rinku struggled in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, managing only six runs, with identical scores of 1 in both the first and third matches.

However, he took two wickets in the third T20I, contributing to India’s tie with Sri Lanka, which they won in the Super Over. In his T20I career, Rinku Singh has scored 418 runs in 23 matches at a strike rate of 174.16, including two half-centuries. He has also played in two ODIs, scoring 17 and 38 against South Africa in December of last year.

“Keep your skills and especially the fitness levels high” – Gautam Gambhir offered advice to young players

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir advised young players, including Rinku Singh, to maintain their fitness during the two-month hiatus from T20Is. He conveyed this message to the BCCI (via Hindustan Times):

“Some of the guys will not be a part of the 50-overs format will have a longer break, so make sure when you come back for the Bangladesh series…you can take a break. You absolutely deserve it, but more importantly, keep your skills and especially the fitness levels high.”

“You don’t want to come for that series thinking that ‘okay, I can just turn up, probably deliver for the team’. So, make sure that from the fitness point of view, the fitness levels are right up there,” he added.

The three-match T20I series between India and Bangladesh is set to take place in Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad on October 6, 9, and 12, respectively.
