Rinku Singh’ Opens Up On His Form After T20 World Cup Exclusion

Kolkata Knight Riders‘ player Rinku Singh reflected on his performance in the ongoing IPL season, admitting to a downturn in form compared to last year. While he scored 474 runs last season, he’s only managed 168 runs in 12 matches this time. Despite expectations of being selected for India’s T20 World Cup squad, he was named among the tournament’s reserves.

Speaking after KKR’s match against Mumbai Indians, Singh acknowledged his inconsistent form this season. “Itni batting aayi nahi aur sir agar batting aayi bhi toh utna acha kar nahi paya main team ke liye. Thode up and down chal rahe hai abhi. Main apne aap ko mentally strong rakhta hoon aur calm rakhta hoon. Aur believe karata rehta hoon apne aap ko ki ho jayega agle match mein. Mai aage ka jyada sochta nahi hoon aur present mein jeeta hoon.”

Key Moments in KKR’s Rain-Affected Victory Over MI

In a rain-affected match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, Rinku Singh played a brief yet impactful innings. He scored 20 runs off 12 balls to contribute to Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) 18-run victory. Due to rain, the game was reduced to 16 overs per side after a delayed start. KKR, batting first after winning the toss, posted a total of 157-7, with Venkatesh Iyer being the top scorer with 42 runs off 21 balls.

In response, MI managed to score 139-8, with Tilak Varma scoring a quick 32 runs off 17 balls. But after this before he knew he realized that he was dismissed by KKR’s fast bowler Harshit Rana, who claimed two wickets in the last over. Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell also contributed with two wickets each as KKR secured their spot in the playoffs. “I manifested before the game that we’d get through.”

“We were playing fantastic cricket, boys have taken responsibility. There have been many game-changers. The boys have shown great attitude and it was on display today. We have a mindset to win from any situation,” said Shreyas Iyer. KKR is confident of securing a top-two position, granting them two opportunities to qualify for the playoffs.
