Rishabh Pant on the back of his outstanding series with the bat against Australia has made huge gains in the latest ICC rankings. Apart from him, another batsman who has climbed in the rankings is England captain Joe Root who scored an outstanding match-winning 200 against Sri Lanka.

Rishabh Pant now stands at 691 rating points which is now his highest ever career points. Pant scored an unbeaten 89 on the last day in Brisbane that guided India to a sensational three-wicket victory over Australia, helped him achieve a career-best 13th position to become the top-ranked wicket keeper in the batting rankings.
Taking about other Indian batsmen, 3 of them are part of the top 10 in the ICC rankings for batsmen. The Indian captain Virat Kohli slipped one position and is now placed at number 4 with 82 points. Whereas Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are on number 7 and 9 in the rankings respectively.
Joe Root comes back in the top 5Â
Root has jumped 6 positions and has now made a comeback in the top 5 after a long time. The England captain currently has 783 points and is just two points ahead of star Pakistan batsman Babar Azam who is at number 6. Australian’s Marnus Labuschagne is now the number 3 Test batsman in the world behind Kane Williamson and Steve Smith.

Meanwhile, the young batting sensation Shubman Gill zoomed upwards in the batting rankings after his 91 on last of the Brisbane Test. He moved from 68th to 47th position and is expected to improve on this in coming days.
As far as the bowling rankings are concerned, Pat Cummins consolidated his position of the number 1 Test bowler in the world. Cummins who was the player of the series against India is comfortably placed at the top with 908 points. R. Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah are two Indian bowlers in the top 10 at number 8 and 9 respectively.
