Former India captain and the Delhi Capitals Director Sourav Ganguly confirmed that Rishabh Pant will play in the Indian Premier League 2024 season. He said the wicket-keeper batter is in good shape and will return to the sport soon. He also added that Rishabh Pant will be leading the team in the upcoming season.
Rishabh Pant joined the Delhi Capitals training camp at the Jadavpur University second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal ground in Saltlake, Kolkata. However, he did not train with the rest of the teammates during the practice session. The left-handed batter had discussions with the Delhi Capitals management ahead of the auctions for the 2024 Indian Premier League season.
“Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season. He will not practice now but is here till 11th November. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he is the captain of the team, considering the upcoming auctions,” said Sourav Ganguly to India Today.
The Indian wicket-keeper batter missed the last Indian Premier League season as he was recovering from a horrific car accident. He suffered multiple injuries and was sidelined from cricketing action for an extended period. Pant worked on his recovery and has had a couple of rehabilitation stints at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
