Rishabh Pant On The Verge Of Making A Historic Milestone

Rishabh Pant is on the brink of achieving a remarkable feat in Test cricket. If he scores a century in the upcoming second Test at Edgbaston, he will become part of an elite group of visiting batters to have scored hundreds in three consecutive Tests on English soil.

This prestigious list includes some of the greatest names in cricket history such as Don Bradman, Rahul Dravid, Brian Lara, Warren Bardsley, Charles Macartney, and Daryl Mitchell. Such a performance would highlight Pant’s growing stature as a dependable performer in overseas conditions.

Consistent Excellence in England

Pant’s recent performances in England have been exceptional. In the first Test at Leeds, he played two outstanding knocks, scoring 134 and 118 in each innings. Despite his efforts, India fell short in their run chase and lost the match by five wickets.

Over the course of ten Test matches played in England, Pant has accumulated over 800 runs at an impressive average of more than 42. These runs include four centuries and a couple of half-centuries, showcasing his ability to thrive in testing English conditions. His highest score in England came at Edgbaston in 2022, when he smashed a quickfire 146 from just 111 balls to rescue India from a precarious situation.

Chasing Legendary Records

If Pant manages to get another hundred at Edgbaston, he would join the legendary Rahul Dravid as the only Indian to achieve the milestone of three successive Test centuries in England. Dravid did it during the 2002 tour with scores of 115, 148, and 217 across three different venues. For Pant, this milestone would not just be a personal triumph but also an addition to his already growing list of achievements.

He currently holds the record for most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper and also leads the chart for the most runs by an Asian wicketkeeper-batsman in overseas conditions across South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia.

Pant’s aggressive yet calculated style of batting makes him a game-changer, and another stellar knock at Edgbaston could see him etch his name alongside some of the greatest names to have ever graced the sport. His performances underline his importance to the Indian Test side and his potential to become one of the most impactful wicketkeeper-batters in modern cricket.
