In a recent interview with Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma, a cricket legend, expressed his admiration for teammate Virat Kohli, who is currently absent from the ongoing series against England due to personal reasons. Sharma highlighted Kohli’s dedication to fitness, noting that Kohli has never visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, a common destination for players dealing with fitness issues.

Sharma commended Kohli for his commitment to improvement, emphasizing the skipper’s rigorous off-field routine that often goes unnoticed. Despite Kohli’s absence, Sharma praised him for maintaining high fitness standards over the years, serving as a role model for aspiring cricketers. Sharma shared insights into Kohli’s passion for the game and his constant presence with the team.

“I feel lucky to watch Virat Kohli from a close range. He is passionate about the game and is always there with the team. People are unaware about what he does off the field to keep going. Virat is dedicated and hunger grows with every series,” Sharma stated in the interview.

Sharma continued to highlight Kohli’s unique approach, stating, “He has never been to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for any fitness-related issues and not even for some cricket development programs. Youngsters should learn from him about the hunger to improve their game.”

The Indian captain emphasized that, besides personal reasons, Kohli has never stayed away from the squad, even when he could opt for rest. Despite the absence of Kohli, the Indian team has shown resilience in the ongoing Test series against England. Kohli’s commitment, both on and off the field, remains a significant factor for the team’s spirit.

“We all get to learn a lot from him,” Rohit Sharma concluded, highlighting the valuable lessons that players can glean from Kohli’s dedication to the sport.

Meanwhile, England, spurred by Ollie Pope‘s counter-attacking hundred, managed to stage a comeback in the second innings, setting up an intriguing contest with India. With England scoring 420 and giving India a target of 230 to win, the ongoing Test match promises an exciting finish.
