Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians skipper had a horrendous IPL season. As a skipper, he failed to rotate his bowlers in the death overs and as a player, he failed miserably as he managed to score only two half-centuries. Nonetheless, his youngsters repaid the faith by scoring some good runs and giving breakthroughs. (Ishan Kishan, Surya and Markhande).

The Indian opener is all set to be back in tricolours for the overseas limited overs tour. Meanwhile, there is something special for him and his fans to rejoice.

He has been invited for by the American baseball club “Seattle Mariners” the first “pitch” in the home game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

This is a part of the pre-game activity which will be done by a guest of honour to commence the game. He, in turn, becomes the first Indian to receive this honour from a baseball club.

Rohit is currently enjoying with his wife Ritika in a three day USA tour and their pics are flooded in the Instagram account. The Mumbai batsman will not be a part of the Test against Afghanistan due to his recent poor performances in the longest format of the game.

It is to be noted that Rohit is one among the three Indians to score a century in each format of the game. The starts he gives will play a major role in clinching the series against the England who are placed at the top of the ICC ODI rankings.

Needless to say that the tour will be a “preparatory” one for all the players to cement their respective positions for the World cup 2019.
