Rohit Sharma plays joyfully with young fan while practice

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma was seen playing joyfully with a young fan during practice before the 1st One-day international match played in Guwahati.

A young fan saw his idol Rohit Sharma and started crying before the Indian captain came to the child while playing with his cheeks.  In the video, the Indian skipper can be heard saying: “Rone ka kya baat hai, chota bacha hai tu.” (Why are you crying, you are just a little boy).

Rohit Sharma looked in sensational touch with a quickfire 83 and putting pressure on the Lankan bowlers right from the word go. Rohit and Shubman Gill put on 143 runs in quick time laying a strong foundation for a massive total. He made comeback from a thumb injury that he suffered during 2nd One-day international match against Bangladesh while dropping catches.

Rohit Sharma’s performance in 2022

The Indian captain struggled in 2022 across formats. He made a total of 995 runs in entire 2022. It was the first time that Rohit Sharma 2012, apart from 2020, was not able to score the 1000 runs mark. During 2020, he made a total of seven appearances before the world came to standstill due to the COVID pandemic.

It was disappointing for Rohit Sharma that he was not able to score a single century in 2022. His highest score came against England with 76, not out that came during the first ODI match against England in July. The Indian team won the match comfortably by 10 wickets. He could not feature in Test matches due to injuries.

Rohit scored a total of six half-centuries in 2022 during 39 innings. During those 39 innings, the Indian captain was dismissed without opening his account four times. Rohit Sharma would be looking for such good performances in the upcoming 2 ODI matches against Sri Lanka, then 3 ODIs against New Zealand.

India will be hosting the 2023 World Cup in October-November. The form of Rohit Sharma will be important going ahead as Men in Blue would be looking to showcase their abilities and bring laurels to the country.
