Team India batter Shubman Gill is all praise for skipper Rohit Sharma. He expressed that Rohit gives the players the freedom to express themselves on the field. The veteran batter will be leading India in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup that is set to take place at home next month.

Rohit Sharma has joined Team India in Rajkot for the third ODI against Australia, which will take place on September 28. He was rested for the first two matches along with Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav. Ahead of the third ODI, Shubman Gill spoke about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. The opener said,

“He gives a lot of freedom to players to express themselves. He tells the coaches as well to let the players make their own decisions on the field and that the player should be the best judge, and that is his best quality as a player and captain,” said Shubman Gill in an interview with Jio Cinema.

Shubman Gill is in great form this year in International cricket. He is the leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2023, slamming five centuries. He has continued his good run in the ongoing series against Australia, where India has an unassailable lead of 2-0. The youngster spoke about his personal as well as Team India’s form ahead of the World Cup. Shubman said,

“Yes, this year has been great for me. The preparation for the World Cup has been good. We have gotten good momentum from the Asia Cup as well. I think peaking at the right time is crucial ahead of a big tournament with so many matches.”

Shubman Gill has scored 1917 runs in 35 ODI matches in his career so far. This year, he averages 72.35 scoring 1230 runs in 20 matches, including five centuries and as many fifties. He is also the leading run-scorer in the ongoing ODI series against Australia.
