Indian Cricket Team’s limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma recently received the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. It is the highest honour for a sportsperson in the country. Rohit has finally reacted on the same saying he feels privileged to be in the same list with Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni.

The cricketer from Mumbai had a dream run in the World Cup in England. He became the first cricketer in the history to score five centuries in one single edition. Rohit Sharma has been a force to reckon with since his promotion to the top-order in 2013. He along with Virat Kohli has been the mainstays of India’s batting in the last decade.

“It feels great to be receiving the highest sporting honour. I am so, so happy and privileged to receive this award and would like to thank the Sports Minister and the BCCI for acknowledging and recommending my name. I promise to keep working hard and continue to bring laurels to my country,” said Rohit in a video shared by BCCI.

“It’s a wonderful group to be a part of – all these three names mentioned (Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli) who have done wonders to our country and brought so much joy to the country. And joining this list is a great honour. I am very happy about it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will be back in action when he leads Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The 13th edition of the cash-rich league will commence from September 19 in the UAE. Mumbai, who will defend the title have already landed in Abu Dhabi and will resume training soon.
