With all the bilateral series cancelled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the fans are eyeing India’s tour of Australia later this year. While dark clouds still loom over the fate of the series, but cricketers believe the boards can pull it off. India opener Rohit Sharma also spoke on the same lines and said that he is eying that series.

Incidentally, Virat Kohli & Co scripted history when they toured last time in 2018-19. India defeated Australia 2-1 to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under for the first time in history. As a result, the intensity will be high this time around when India tour for another four-match series.

Rohit Sharma during an Instagram Live chat with David Warner expressed that India’s tour of Australia, scheduled just after the T20 World Cup can be a great way to resume cricket. Last time the home side was without Steve Smith and David Warner due to bans, and Australia will hope to come hard this time.

“I love playing against Australia. When we won last time (in 2019), it was great for us. You guys (Warner and Steve Smith) were missing (due to ball-tampering bans),” Rohit Sharma during a Live chat with David Warner.

“What our bowlers and batters did there was amazing. I am looking forward to the upcoming tour already. Hope both boards manage to get the series underway. Will be a great way to kick off cricket in the world,” he added.

Meanwhile, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has already expressed that Indian cricketers are willing to stay in quarantine for 14 days in Australia to play the series. He also added there has been no decision whether they will play an extra Test match to recover some of the losses caused by COVID-19.
