Royal Challengers Bangalore finishes all ties with Vijay Mallya”s Kingfisher

Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has decided to cut their ties completely with Kingfisher company owned by Vijay Mallya. Kingfisher held a full decade of association with the franchise.

However, with RCB finishing up ties with Kingfisher, we will not see this advertisement theme again specifically in IPL 11 for sure.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are still seeking the title sponsor though. Dura Cements will be the new associate sponsor of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

As per the new sponsorship deal, Dura”s branding will now replace Kingfisher”s at the back of the team”s playing kit for the upcoming IPL season. They will now be the new sponsor on the back of Black Jersey and in fact for the go Green day as well. RCB is one franchise that has a home & away jerseys as well.

It also has come across that Kingfisher”s “Oo La La La La Le O” advertising theme will not be seen during the IPL, the theme has been a hit campaign in the previous editions of the Indian Premier League. Six franchises including Bangalore, Mumbai, Punjab, Hyderabad, and Delhi were a part of it. While others weren”t.

Title sponsorship amount, that brands generally pay is likely to amount big to IPL franchises this season and is expected to be in the range of Rs. 15-25 cr per year.

RCB as well have gauged the trends in the market and hence, have increased the amount they are asking which has increased by 50% from the last edition.

For the previous season, Gionee had paid Rs. 14 cr and this year”s amount is likely to go Rs. 20 cr and beyond.

The cutting ties with Kingfisher and subsequently Vijaya Mallya might have a lot to do with Mallya”s illegal activities.

United Breweries chairman and face of Kingfisher, Vijay Mallya is currently living in exile in London. He fled the country after owing 17 Indian banks over Rs 9000 cr.The Enforcement Directorate is trying to extradite Vijay Mallya.RCB didn”t tell reasons behind them cutting ties with Kingfisher though.
