The Royal Challengers Bangalore can do no wrong as they come from behind to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad in yet another exciting match of IPL 2021. When Sunrisers Hyderabad needed 50 to win from 7 overs and 9 wickets in hand it seemed a walk in the park for them.

However, it all changed very quickly as RCB bowlers put the squeeze at the right time and bowled relentlessly. Then came the match-winning 17th over when captain Virat Kohli trusted Shahbaz Ahmed to deliver when the match was evenly poised.

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeats Sunrises Hyderabad by 6 runs

He did exactly just that as he picked 3 wickets in an over and broke the back of SRH batting. Post that the Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to get the ball away even from the square and Royal Challengers Bangalore completed an epic win. In the first half of the match, Glenn Maxwell scored a brilliant half-century and helped RCB post a total of 149 runs which proved to be match-winning.

Who Said What?

Meanwhile, here’s what the winning skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli and losing skipper David Warner said in the post-match presentation.

“A very bitter pill to swallow. Our bowlers were fantastic to restrict them. Maxwell batted well and set the platform. We needed two set batsmen at the end, but we failed to do that. We needed to build a partnership and play proper cricket shots. We played cross batted shots, and that’s not the way to play here. This hurts. We know how to approach in the upcoming games. We have another three games here and I think the wickets are going to get better”, said Warner

Not as exhausted as I am proud (of the team). You are never really out of the game in these conditions. The extra bowling options made those impact performances in the middle overs. I told the guys don’t think that we struggled to get to 149. If it was tough for us, it will be tough for them as well. Our execution under pressure was spot on. It kept getting tougher and tougher with the old ball. I think Maxi’s innings was the difference for us. To be very honest, we are not over excited with wins this season. We have plans. We traded Harshal from Delhi, gave him a specific role and he’s doing a great job”, said Kohli.

“It’s a very nice start, new franchise for me and they have given me a specific role. To start like this is really nice. It’s nice to have batters behind you, you have freedom and that’s almost close to the role I have in the Australian cricket team. It’s just about using the experience. Get myself in and then go for the runs. Probably having those guys behind me is a luxury at RCB. I suppose the coaching effect is there to an extent as well. Obviously my 4th IPL team and there’s a bit of pressure”, said the man of the match Glenn Maxwell.
