The Indian team will look to win their maiden Test series victory on South African soil with the first match to be played on 26th December at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Since 1992/93, Men in Blue has not been able to breach South Africa.

Last time, India won the first Test at Centurion before losing the next two Test matches at Johannesburg and Cape Town to lose the series 1-2.

  1. Jacques Kallis-1734

Jacques Kallis was considered one of the backbones for South African batting lineups. He made his Test debut against India in 2000 and played till 2013.

He along with Hashim Amla looked impressive in Test matches and scored runs with ease against Men in Blue during a longer format.

Most of his runs came in South African conditions which would help them to win matches. His ability to play spin bowling was brilliant with top-quality Indian batsmen. He was brilliant with the bowl and created an impact that would help them to register impressive wins.

  1. Hashim Amla-1528 runs

Hashim Amla was another South African batter who would create with his solid technique. He was a brilliant batter against his favourite opponent Indian team in Test matches. Amla played his first Test match against India in 2004. During his Test career, Amla featured 21 Test matches (37 innings) and scored 1528 runs including 5 centuries and 7 half-centuries with the best score of 253 not out.

Amla also played brilliantly in tough Indian conditions and helped South Africa win matches. Amla retired in 2018. Since then, South Africa has been struggling to find a suitable number 3 in Test matches.

  1. AB de Villers- 1334 Runs

AB de Villers created a major impact for South Africa who can mould his batting style according to the conditions and situations and has provided some magical knocks against India in Test matches.

The explosive right-handed batter played his first Test match against India in 2006. He played a total of 20 Test matches (35 innings) with 1334 runs including 3 centuries and 6 half-centuries including a best score of 217 not out.

His partnership along with Faf du Plessis almost chased down the target of 458 in Johannesburg in 2013. AB de Villers played a marathon knock in Delhi but did not save South Africa from registering a draw.
