The hard-hitting explosive batter, Heinrich Klassen produced a magical knock with the fastest fifty in tournament history. He achieved this feat against Paarl Royals at Kingsmead, Durban on 28th January 2024.
Durban Super Giants captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Zorzi and Quinton de Kock fell quickly. Klassen came with the scoreboard reading 151 for 5 in 17 overs. He took charge putting pressure on Paarl Royals bowlers smashing them to all parts of the ground. Klassen showed his with an unbeaten 50 off 16 deliveries and was dismissed on the next delivery.
It was a breath-taking knock by Klassen with 2 fours and 6 sixes that helped Durban Super Giants post 208 for 7 in 20 overs. Super Giants bowlers kept tight lines and lengths as Noor Ahmad picked his best figures with 5 for 11 in 3.2 overs. It was a dominating win for Super Giants as they registered 125 run victory and garnered bonus point.
Durban Super Giants becomes the first team to qualify for the playoff stage. They are currently at the top of the points table with 6 wins and 2 losses.
Klassen Broke The Record Of the Fastest Fifty
Klassen has been in excellent form for the Durban Super Giants during the ongoing SA T20 season. He produced some lovely knocks that helped them to post big totals or chase down the targets easily. The star South African batter broke Donavon Ferreria’s record of the fastest fifty in SA T20 2024. Ferriera achieved this feat of 18 balls against Pretoria Capitals at Wanders, Johannesburg on 20th January 2024.
Klassen broke his record of the fastest fifty in SA T20 history. He scored fifty off 19 balls against Pretoria Capitals during the 2023 edition of the tournament.
He has shown tremendous power for the Durban Super Giants in this tournament. Klassen scored so 280 runs from 8 matches (8 innings) with 3 half-centuries to his name. During this tournament, Klassen registered the best score of 85 at a stunning strike rate of 207.41. He played a key role in helping the Durban Super Giants register victories in tough situations.
