Aamer Jamal had a great outing in the 3-match Test series on Australian soil. He was the lone bright spot in the series picking up 18 wickets including two 6-wicket hauls. His bowling efforts in the first innings of the third test at Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG helped Pakistan take 14 run lead.
He finished as the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan with 18 scalps from 6 innings. During the first innings of the third test match at Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG, Jamal played a brilliant knock of 82 that helped Pakistan to post 313 putting on 86 runs partnership for the final wicket along with Mir Hamza.
Pakistan’s former player Salman Butt believes that it is not right to play Aamer Jamal at number 6 in T20I based on one brilliant knock. He also said that Jamal cannot be compared to all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Ben Stokes.
“Please let him play a few more matches. He has not become Hardik Pandya or Ben Stokes. If a player does something good, we all expect him to do everything, and then when he fails, we say he should be removed. He played a good knock and has the talent, but it takes more than talent to be consistent. Let him perform for at least a year.”
Pakistan will face New Zealand in the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand to be played from 12th January onwards. Aamer Jamal has been included in the squad as Shaheen Shah Afridi has been appointed as the captain of the T20I squad.

Aamer Jamal made his debut for Pakistan in the recently concluded Test series on Australian soil. He came up with a superb spell in the first innings of the first Test match at Perth picking 6 for 111. Jamal bowled 9 overs in the 2nd innings and grabbed 1 wicket.
Jamal impressed again with 3 for 64 in 19 overs during the first innings of the 2nd Test match at Melbourne. He took 2 for 74 in 16 overs during 2nd innings.
His bowling was superb in the first innings of the 3rd Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG picking 6 for 69 in 21.4 overs giving Pakistan a slender 14-run lead. He was not introduced into the attack by Pakistan captain Shan Masood as it was gone case as Australia won the match by 8 wickets.
