After his string of bad performances with the bat, Sanjay Manjrekar has advised Prithvi Shaw to idolise Virender Sehwag. The Delhi Capitals opener started IPL 2020 with a bang and scored runs at the top order. However, in recent matches, Shaw has looked out of nick and has searched for runs.

The exciting batsman from Mumbai was even omitted from the DC squad and Ajinkya Rahane featured in his place. Even after a break of few matches Shaw hasn’t been able to find his touch and has been dismissed cheaply.

Due to his poor form, the Delhi Capitals too have suffered and are now in a must-win situation in their next match. From the outside, it seems Shaw has tried to complicate things by playing unnecessary premediated strokes.

Now, former cricketer, Manjrekar has instructed him not to play impossible shots. The popular commentator has urged him to follow Virender Sehwag as his role model. Shaw has often been compared with Sehwag for the way he bats from his batting stance to strokes.

“Dear Prithvi Shaw, try & not attempt impossible shots, simply because they are impossible to pull off. Keep Virender Sehwag as your role model, see how he only stuck to shots he had the ability/confidence to pull off,” Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.

Meanwhile, Shaw certainly has a touch of Sehwag when he bats. Though, Sehwag used to keep things very simple during his career and always batted according to his strengths. Shaw at the moment is completely doing the opposite hence Manjrekar wants him to stick to his shots that he has the confidence to execute.’

The 20-year-old in the last few years has often produced some brilliant knocks. As result, he was also drafted in the national squad and has represented India Tests and ODIs. However lately the opening batsman has looked low on confidence and departed at low scores.

Furthermore, Shaw will get another chance to impress when DC takes on RCB in IPL 2020. The two sides will be aiming to register a win and finally qualify for the IPL 2020 playoffs.
