Sardar Patel Unity Cup got off to a flying start at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Friday, October 28. The opening day saw two matches being played at the venue. India A won the first game before Rest of India returned favours in the second and final game of Day 1.
The first game saw India A winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Kabeer Singh struck in the first over to dismiss Sagar BR. India A continued to pile up pressure on Rest of India and reduced them to 34/3 in 4.1 overs.
However, Praveen Jassa (68) and Prashant Singh (66*) put on a show with the bat to bring Rest of India back into the game. They added 122 runs for the fourth wicket to stage a comeback.

In response, India A had a woeful start, losing both their openers within the first six overs. But Raja Babu (93*) and Saurabh Malik (94*) put on a superb fight to bail their side out of danger before taking the team home. They shared an unbeaten 173-run stand for the third wicket to take India A home in the first game of the Sardar Patel Unity Cup.
However, Rest of India returned favours in the second game of the Sardar Patel Unity Cup. India A won the toss and once again asked Rest of India to bat first. Openers Sandeep and Sagar BR added 107 runs in the nine overs to give their side a blistering start. Eventually, they managed to post 138/2 in their stipulated 12 overs.

Thippe Swamy (57) and Rohit Arora (37) got India A off to a flying start in pursuit but Rest of India bowlers bounced back to defend the target. Sandeep was the pick of the bowlers, returning with figures of 1/21 in his three overs.
