The debate on who is the best batsman in the world always has divided opinions. Several great batsmen today perform consistently in all formats. Steve Smith is undoubtedly the best in Test whereas Virat Kohli dominates in all three formats. The likes of Kane Williamson, Rohit Sharma and Joe Root are also quality batsman in the game today.
Former Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has revealed who according to him is the best batsman in the world. The wicket-keeper-batsman said India captain Virat Kohli is without a doubt the best today. Sarfaraz lauded Kohli who is the only batsman to average 50 in all three formats.
Virat Kohli is the best batsman – Sarfaraz Ahmed
Sarfaraz also mentioned the name of Indian opener Rohit Sharma. The wicket-keeper has closely watched Rohit bat from behind the stumps. He reckons that Rohit is a great timer of the cricket ball and is a class player. But due to his ordinary Test career so far he picked Kohli ahead of his Indian teammate.
“In today’s time, there should be no doubt it is Virat Kohli, who’s the world’s number 1 batsman. But, as I have told you before that when I have been behind the wicket, I have felt that although Rohit Sharma does not have that many runs in Test matches, the timing that he has is great. But the number one player in the world is definitely Virat Kohli. Nobody can match him”, Sarfaraz was quoted as saying to Anis.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Ahmed led Pakistan to glory in the 2017 champions trophy final against India. The men in green shocked everyone and defeated their arch-rivals in a one-sided contest. Pakistan defeated India by a huge margin of 180 runs at The Oval in London as Sarfaraz led from the front.
