Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan credited his father, Naushad Khan, for his success in a social media post after winning the Best International Debut 2023-24 at the Naman Awards 2025. The ceremony was held in Mumbai on Saturday, February 1. Sarfaraz made his much-anticipated Test debut in Rajkot during the third match of India’s five-Test series against England in 2024.

He had an impressive start, scoring a fluent 62 off 66 balls in his first innings before being run out. The 27-year-old continued his fine form in the second innings, remaining unbeaten on 68 off 72 balls, including six fours and three sixes. His contributions helped India secure a dominant 434-run victory.

On February 1, at the Naman Awards 2025, Sarfaraz received the Best International Debut award. Later, he shared a picture with his father on his Instagram stories, expressing gratitude and crediting him for his success. He wrote:

“Credit goes to only this man. Thanku so much Abu ji.”

Sarfaraz was part of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series but did not feature in any matches despite being in the squad. Meanwhile, India faced a tough battle against a dominant Australian side and lost the series 3-1.

Sarfaraz Khan has played six Tests for India

Sarfaraz Khan made his Test debut in February 2024 and has since played six matches for India. The right-handed batter has accumulated 371 runs at an average of 37.10, registering three half-centuries and a century. His most notable performance came in his fourth Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he scored an impressive 150 off 195 balls.

In first-class cricket, the Mumbai cricketer has an outstanding record, having played 54 matches. He has amassed 4,593 runs at an exceptional average of 65.61, including 16 centuries and 14 fifties, with a career-best unbeaten 301.
