India Women’s U-19 defeated South Africa Women’s U-19 by nine wickets in the final of the 2025 ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia on Sunday, February 2. This dominant victory saw India successfully defend their title from the 2023 edition, showcasing their continued strength and dominance in youth cricket.

Opting to bowl first, the defending champions dismissed South Africa Women’s U-19 for just 82 runs in a dominant performance. Gongadi Trisha (3/15) was the standout bowler, with Mieke van Voort (23 off 18) being the only batter to score over 20 runs in a challenging outing.

Chasing 83, India lost G Kamalini (8 off 13) early, but Gongadi Trisha (44* off 33) guided them comfortably towards the target. With two runs required for victory, Sanika Chalke (26 off 22) swept the ball to deep square leg, securing the game with a boundary.

This marked the Indian team’s second consecutive title, having won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2023, with Shafali Varma leading the team to victory.

Who Was Named Player of the Tournament in the 2025 ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup?

India opener G Trisha was named Player of the Tournament for her exceptional all-round performances. Over the course of eight matches, Trisha scored 309 runs, including a standout 110 runs off 59 balls. With the ball, she took seven wickets, with her best figures of 3/15 in four overs coming in the final.

India were placed in Group A alongside West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, winning all their group-stage matches, as well as their Super Six games against Bangladesh and Scotland. In the semi-finals, they defeated England to reach the final for the second time, where they triumphed over South Africa by nine wickets to successfully defend their title.
