SAvIND: Twitter digs into South Africa”s abject batting surrender

0

Southafrica have collapsed in the second ODI in Centurion versus India in the ongoing series for jus 118.

Batting first after India won the toss, Southafrica started jitterily but didn”t lose a wicket till the 10th over when Bhuvneshwar Kumar got Hashim Amla nicking it to MS Dhoni.

And then the collapse begins, The two wrist spinners again turned the game around with their mystery that South African batsmen seem to just not find a solution for.

Yuzvendra Chahal got De Cock out and then got 4 more in the innings alongside Kuldeep Yadav who got 3 wickets to finish up the innings.

The twitter at the same time has gone into a big buzz and the appreciation for the two wrist spinners are coming from all corners of the world cricket. Equally alarming is the criticism of the South African batsmen and their techniques playing versus spin. And how it is now a big concern with the world cup only 14 months away.

Even though Southafrica is missing AB De Villiers and Faf Du Plessis the two Southafrican batting stalwarts in the middle order, this is still a big concern because the basic batting techniques of the South African batsmen versus spin and wrist spinners, in particular, seem to be found wanting regularly.

Twitterati though gave no two thoughts before digging deep into the South African batsmen and had many fun jibes at them. This is now South Africa”s second abject batting display of the series versus India”s two wrist spinners. The same happened in Kingsmead, Durban. India won the game on the back of the class of their bowling and superb batting in Durban and the same is likely to continue after this surrender by Southafrica batsmen in Centurion.

Yuzvendra Chahal now has a 5fer in both the limited overs format in ODIs and T20Is it”s a fantastic achievement and coupled with Kuldeep Yadav India now has two quality wrist spinners something that could pave the way for India”s first ODI series win in Southafrica especially if Southafrican batsmen keeps batting like this.

Twitter though won”t mind any of that.
