On Saturday in Ahmedabad, the organization’s Special Annual General Meeting made the decision that the office-holders would be tasked with forming the working committee for the ICC tournament, which will take place in India between October and November.
In addition, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will formalize the working group for the tournament over the coming few weeks. The schedule for the ODI World Cup is anticipated to be revealed alongside the announcement of the World Test Championship winner next month.
The office-bearers will be given the responsibility of forming the working committee for the ICC tournament, which will take place in India between October and November, it was decided at its Special Annual General Meeting on Saturday in Ahmedabad.
Contrary to rumors that the schedule would be announced soon after the IPL final, Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, confirmed that the official schedule would be announced at some point during the WTC final, which will be attended by top BCCI officials and ICC officials.
At a press conference held during the ICC World Test Championship Final, the locations for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be chosen. Additionally, the entire tournament schedule will be made public, according to Shah.
The World Cup venues were not discussed because they were not on the agenda’s five points, but the state units were informed that the Board planned to invest more in infrastructure development with the IPL’s excess revenue.
Each office-holder will be in charge of a specific World Cup venue, according to the statement. All of the metro areas are being considered tournament locations, according to Shah.
With just about four months until the event, Grant Thorton will move quickly to renovate the 15 stadiums designated for the World Cup. While the square will be relaid in some cities, such as Lucknow, work has already begun there. Once the IPL is over, other cities will also get going.
The Board will have an “umbrella wing” that will ensure that state teams will have to follow a specific set of criteria in terms of appointing strength and conditioning coaches in order to reduce the burden on the NCA. This is in response to demands from several state units for streamlining in terms of appointing strength and conditioning coaches and trainers.
“We have set up a structure where each state association will appoint a strength and conditioning coach and a sports science and sports medicine team to address players’ injury concerns. The NCA panel will interview the applicants, according to Shah.”
An observer from a state unit stated that the Board would establish a body to oversee this procedure and work with the state units to develop the structure. The member said, “This will lighten the load on the NCA and also assist the state units in establishing their own facility in terms of S&C and trainers.”
The Board will work with its own legal team to complete the revamped POSH committee, which has not been very active lately, with the assistance of two legal experts present: joint secretary Devajit Saikia and treasurer Ashish Shelar.
“Saikia and Shelar’s counsel will be useful because they are both seasoned attorneys. As a result, they will establish a committee in coordination with the legal team, according to a source who also indicated that names have been shortlisted and will be decided soon.
Additionally, the office holders have been tasked with investigating how to form a dedicated committee for the Women’s Premier League. The IPL governing council, led by Arun Dhumal, oversaw the WPL in its first season, but going forward, the Board intends to create a separate committee for the women’s competition.
Soon, the officeholders will talk over the formalities and make a decision. To decide on the World Cup and the Women’s Premier League, a committee will be established. The next week will see the release of information about these committees, according to Shah.
Additionally, the secretary disclosed that the Board would consult with the broadcaster before deciding on a window for the subsequent WPL. The next season of the Women’s Premier League will be organized before March 2024, he said, adding that they are looking at a window for doing so.
