India Women cricket team reached Australia for a full tour against the mighty Australian team, The side will play a Tets match, three ODIs and as many T20Is against the Aussies. Meanwhile, ahead of the series, the Indian women cricketers are asked to maintain a hard quarantine period of two weeks. The players are kept inside small hotel rooms and are even denied practice.

There is a sense of discrimination among the squad as they are denied the basic facilities being international cricketers.

“Players are not able to practice much in the rooms provided during the quarantine period. The rooms are very small. You can barely manage to do some training. There are no guards manning the place like the players witnessed in the UK but the quarantine is very strict” The BCCI official said.

Amid the tension, the players are being served good food however, the BCCI official believes that the two-week quarantine period will be challenging.

The players reached Brisbane on Monday. The tour itinerary also changed due to covid-19 restrictions in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne. All matches will now be played in Queensland and the series will begin on September 21 after a delay of two days.

India Women Cricketers Facing Discrimination In Australia?

Seeing the positives from the current situation, head coach Ramesh Powar tweeted a photo of his room window with the caption “As long as you have window, life is exciting”.

Speaking at the press conference, Mithali Raj seemed confident of playing well in the upcoming series.

“We know we are playing against the best side in the world,” Raj said. “But we are confident in the sort of preparation we managed to have here in India. It is going to be big because most of the questions are revolving around the pink ball, then the one day cricket and the T20 cricket.

We don’t go in with a set mindset, it’s all about how we apply ourselves according to the situation present at that moment. The Test match in Australia will be slightly different because we are playing with a pink ball and under lights. That’s a very different experience for all of us” said Mithali.
