Indian Premier League (IPL) is the biggest T20 cricket league in the world. So many big superstars come together to create their impact and entertain the cricket fans. IPL helps in creating a name and fame for a player. Cricketers from all countries aspire to play in the IPL.
While speaking on Cricket Den’s YouTube channel, Ex- Pakistan cricketer Yasir Arafat claimed that King of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan offered him to play for KKR in IPL 2008 despite the Pakistan Cricket board not shortlisting him for IPL. It was a shocking moment for him.
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had shortlisted names for the first edition and unfortunately, I was not among them and couldn’t play. I was playing County Cricket for Kent in 2008 where KKR’s Scouting Team specially came from India and they met me during a match. They revealed that Shah Rukh Khan wants me to play for his side,” Yasir Arafat said.
Once there was a time when Pakistan cricketers also used to play in the Indian Premier League. However, since the terrorist attack in Mumbai, the Indian government banned the participation of Pakistan players in the Indian premier league which restricted many talented Pakistan players from playing in the IPL.
Thought it was a Joke: Yasir Arafat on Shahrukh Khan approaching him for KKR contract
Ex Pakistan cricketer Yasir Arafat also said that he couldn’t believe that one of the greatest global superstars is contacting him to play for his franchise in the Indian Premier League. Initially, he considered it a joke as he never expected that this would happen.
“Initially, I thought it was a joke as to why Shah Rukh would send somebody to talk regarding the contract. They also handed me a card and took my contact details. A few weeks later, they again offered me a three-year contract where Shah Rukh personally called and welcomed me.” added Yasir Arafat.
