Though there were reports that the trading of Shikhar Dhawan to Delhi Daredevils was successful, the Sunrisers franchise confirmed the same in a press release today.
Shikhar Dhawan, who wasn’t satisfied with the price for which he was brought at the 2018 auctions expressed his concerns to the management of Sunrisers. In order to unlock a better deal, they have now traded him to Delhi in exchange for Shahbaz Nadeem, Abhishek Sharma and Vijay Shankar.
Sunrisers franchise has wished all the best for his feature endeavours in the press release and it will be interesting if they could opt for a better opener alongside Warner /Williamson.
The release read ” It is with a heavy heart that we announce, that one of our long-standing players, Shikhar Dhawan will be moving to another franchise in 2019. The Sunrisers were delighted to pick up Shikar in the auction after using one of its RTM cards earlier in the year. Unfortunately, it has become apparent that the player has been unsettled ever since with the amount he was bought for in the auction, which we cannot rectify due to IPL rules.”

Shikhar also led the side during the 2013 edition. However, he withdrew from the position in the middle of the series as he wasn’t able to withstand the pressure.
