Chennai Super Kings lost their first match at their fortress against Lucknow Super Giants played at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 23rd April 2024. CSK bowlers began picking wickets of de Kock and KL Rahul well. Marcus Stoinis was promoted to number 3 spot and remained not out on 124 not out which helped Lucknow Super Giants chase down the target with 3 balls to spare.

After CSK’s loss to LSG, former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu said that Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya are not fighting for the same spot for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the USA and West Indies.

Shivam Dube came at number 5 smashing the LSG bowlers all over the park. He smashed 66 off 27 deliveries with 3 fours and 7 sixes that helped CSK post 210 for 4. Dube took the charge from ball one hitting big shots and putting pressure on the LSG bowlers.

Dube hit sixes against Marcus Stoinis, Yash Thakur, and Mohsin Khan which made life tough for the LSG bowlers. He was eventually run out in the final over, allowing MS Dhoni to face only 1 delivery. CSK will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 28th which promises to be an exciting clash.

“Both of them are not competing for the same spot. Hardik and Jadeja are finishers in the Indian team, and Dube is the kind of batter who comes in at No. 4 or 5. When the spinners are operating and conditions are slow, he can hit boundaries and accelerate to change the game. But between overs 16 and 20, Dube’s strike rate isn’t that high, he fails to hit that many runs. So, I feel Hardik and Jadeja have that role in the Indian team,” Rayudu said.

Shivam Dube proved his worth with match-winning knocks in the 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home this year.
