The young opening batsmen took some time off to relax in the Caribbean before the action-packed matches that lie ahead. During their leisure time, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan decided to explore the local cuisine and opted for sushi, a popular Japanese dish.

They captured their delightful moments and shared them on social media, showcasing their bond and love for good food. The pictures revealed the duo sporting printed shirts and genuinely enjoying each other’s company.

Ishan Kishan took to Instagram to post the photos with a caption that proudly proclaimed their status as certified sushi lovers.

The post quickly gained attention and generated a lot of buzz among fans and former cricketers. Suresh Raina, a former Indian cricketer, humorously commented on the matching shirts worn by Gill and Kishan, adding to the lighthearted camaraderie.

While the young cricketers are relishing their time off-field, they also have significant responsibilities ahead. Shubman Gill aims to put his disappointing performance in the ICC World Test Championship final behind him and start afresh in the new championship cycle.

Having scored 13 and 18 in the final, Gill is determined to make a strong comeback and contribute significantly to the team’s success. He requires 79 runs to reach the milestone of 1000 runs in Test matches. Currently, Gill has accumulated 921 runs in 16 Tests, including two centuries.

Ishan Kishan expected to debut in the first Test against West Indies

Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, is eagerly awaiting his Test debut, as the incumbent wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat failed to impress in the World Test Championship final.

With scores of five and 23 in both innings, Bharat’s performance fell short of expectations. Kishan, who has displayed remarkable skills in domestic cricket, is the preferred choice to take up the wicketkeeping duties for India in the first Test against West Indies.

In his first-class career, Kishan has amassed 2985 runs in 48 matches, including six centuries and 16 half-centuries. The Indian Test squad for the West Indies tour features a strong lineup, with Rohit Sharma leading the team.

Alongside Gill and Kishan, the squad includes prominent players such as Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Shardul Thakur, among others. The two-match Test series is scheduled to commence on July 12 at Windsor Park, Dominica, followed by the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad, starting on July 20.

As fans eagerly await the highly anticipated Test series, Gill and Kishan’s friendship and shared experiences off the field continue to strengthen their bond, enhancing team spirit and unity within the Indian cricket team.
