Gujarat Titans’ opening duo, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, etched their names among the most successful batting pairs in IPL history with a 114-run stand against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. This powerful partnership marked their sixth 100-plus stand, placing them joint third in the list of highest century partnerships in the IPL.
Leading the pack are Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers with 10 such stands, followed by Kohli and Chris Gayle with nine. Gill and Sudharsan now share the third spot alongside duos like Kohli-Faf du Plessis and Dhawan-Warner. Their ability to consistently deliver big opening partnerships has become a hallmark of Gujarat’s success at the top of the order.
Steady Start and Explosive Finish in Powerplay
After being asked to bat first, Gill and Sudharsan began cautiously, assessing the conditions and neutralizing the early threats from Vaibhav Arora and Moeen Ali. The first boundary came in the third over, when Sudharsan cut hard off the back foot. He followed it up with two more boundaries in the next over, accelerating the scoring rate.

Gill, quiet at first, soon began to find his rhythm. He struck two consecutive boundaries off Harshit Rana and welcomed Varun Chakravarthy with another four, helping GT finish the powerplay at a solid 45/0. Their calculated aggression set the tone for what would become a dominating partnership.
Gill and Sudharsan Reach Personal Milestones Before Partnership Ends
As the innings progressed beyond the powerplay, Gill shifted gears and launched a furious attack. He smashed Moeen Ali for a 78-meter six and followed it up with successive boundaries. Sudharsan, not to be left behind, also unleashed a flurry of boundaries.
In the 11th over, Gill reached his third fifty of the season with a single, and Sudharsan celebrated his fifth half-century just a ball later with a six and a well-run double. However, their partnership came to an end shortly after as Andre Russell dismissed Sudharsan with a short ball that produced a faint edge, caught behind by Gurbaz. Despite the dismissal, the 114-run stand played a key role in putting Gujarat in a commanding position.
